About Director.

I was born in Macintyre Street, Jeppestown in July 1953 and lived there until November 2010 and presently reside in Mayfair. Born into a family of 7 sisters and 5 brothers, me being the youngest. I schooled at Gold Street Primary School till standard 5, continued till standard 8 at William Hills High and standard 9 at Nirvana High but was unsuccessful. Therefore I joined my parents business in Jeppestown. Islamic classes at Madressa Himayatul Islam, Nugget Street were attended from 1959 to 1967.

I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see thing through to completion. I am eager to learn and enjoy overcoming challenges. I am an open-minded individual and eager to be challenged in order to grow and improve myself.

I became a director at Madressa Zia-Ul-Badr in 1989 and to date proudly serving this ever-growing institution which has now grown into and organisation.

Alhamdulillah the other organisations I’m presently serving on are:

Alipur Muslim Association – secretary since 2000

Member of Central Islamic Trust (CIT).

Assistant Secretary of the South African Hajj & Umrah Council (SAHUC).

Member of the Islamic Research Centre.

Secretary of Fordsburg Muslim Youth Organisation (FMYO).

Trustee of Himayatul Islam.

Trusteen of Ikhlaas Musallah.

Vice Chairman and Match Secretary of the Greater Mayfair Local Football Association (GMLFA).

Secretary of Jeppestown Traders Association

lastly a serving member of the Bait un Noor Masjid and Madressa since 2010.

I seize this opportunity to mention my observation that with the exception of Qari Moosa Seedat who holds a prestigious Islamic “certificate” which super cedes all achievements, none of the present MZB directors have corporate backgrounds, university degrees or certifications yet Allah is His infinite wisdom had favored us for this noble cause and to serve the Ummah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
